Fully retract the cylinder and install the pin (Item 1).
Install the retainer (Item 2) [Figure 20-28-1] on both sides of the pin.
Lower the work group to the ground.
With the engine off, turn the key to the ON position and move both hydraulic control levers to relieve hydraulic pressure.
Support the boom using a chain hoist [Figure 20-28-2].
Remove the hose (Item 1) [Figure 20-28-3] from the base end of the cylinder.
Install a plug (Item 1) [Figure 20-28-4] on the hose.
Start the engine and retract the cylinder.
If there is any leakage from the base end fitting (Item 2) [Figure 20-28-4] on the cylinder, remove the cylinder for repair or replacement.
