Stop the engine. Open rear door.
Remove the negative (-) cable from the battery. the battery may be removed for additional working clearance.

Remove the belt shield [Figure 30-50-9]. (See Shield Removal And Installation on Page 30-50-1.)
Loosen and remove the tensioner pulley mounting bolt (Item 1) [Figure 30-50-10].
Installation: Tighten the bolt to 25-28 ft.-lbs. (34-38 Nm) torque.
Remove the belt tensioner pulley from the housing.
Reverse the removal procedure to install the drive belt tensioner.
